Stsou Swiftscale
The other day I was looking through the list of shortbows hoping to find something good for my Ranger for CG-ing, and I found this bow:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Swiftscale%27s_Shortbow
Maybe not the best for CG-ing but I didn't feel like buying a +30hp bow mod. So I figured out a build, farmed one, and forgot to post it until I read the request for this build. So anyway, here it is.
Class: Monk/Elementalist
Equipment: -20hp offhand, +5e/20% enchant, 5 sup runes, full Ascetic armor.
Stats:
Smiting: 12+1+3
Healing: 10+3
Prot: 6+3
Divine: 6+3
Skills:
Holy Strike
Stonesoul Strike
Shield of Judgement
Protective Spirit
Glyph of Concentration
Mending
Essence Bond
Balthazar's Spirit
You could tell me that you can have 9+3 healing and swap a head piece to cast mending, but I didn't see the benefit of putting another point into prot or df. So I use 13 Healing just so I won't have to swap around.
Usage:
Start from Gyala Hatchery. Immediately head towards the Kappa for 15% dp. After you res, cast your 3 maintained enchants and head dead west, keeping PS on you as necessary. When you approach Stsou's mob, you should have full deaggroed the Kappa mobs. Then follow these steps:
1. Cast prot spirit, then Glyph of Conc, then run up to Stsou.
2. Cast SoJ. If you get dazed, use Glyph of Conc again so your next PS will not be interrupted.
3. Use Holy Strike and Stonesoul Strike whenever Stsou is knocked down for a beefy 116 damage. Because these are skills, they will not end Glyph of Conc.
4. Keep PS up as needed. When SoJ is recharging and down, just spam Holy Strike and Stonesoul whenever they're charged--this will neutralize most of his regen + Troll. Use Glyph of Concentration before every SoJ (and PS if you're dazed)
5. Repeat steps 2-4 until he's dead.
This usually will take several (3-4) SoJs before he dies. This is not, by any means, a fast farm, and he dropped one of his bows after... 30ish runs.
I won't post a video with this one like I did with Everthorn. If there's any questions, just PM me in game.

this might be easier with a Spirit Bonder...more hp for when you possibly mess up.

no, actually its worse. youd have to watch out for prot spirit AND (!!!) spirit bond. with this, mending takes the spot of breeze and you only have to watch soj and ps.
nice build, i was after this one for my rangers before but had no luck, im gonna try it later

Well no it isn't really worse. I routinely kill Stsou after killing Ssesk.

However, I wouldn't try it on anything other than a Mo/N or N/Mo because of Concussion Shot. If you get Dazed you need to Plague Touch it away quickly.

thats the thing, you have plague touch, but i was referring to the opening post, which is clearly an elementalist. so for the situation with glyph of concentration, spirit bond would probably be hard to control without your plague touch. but then, they probably dont interrupt ps or sb that often due to the casting time, meh. just seems easier if you dont have to rely on 2 enchants rather than one to survive.
havnt come around to testing it, and just noticed something;
would blessed aura instead of one of the e-management enchants work? i dont know how the energy deal is there, as they attack rather slow..so would one of them be enough, or do you desperately need the energy from both? >.>

Actually energy isn't an issue if you're using sacrificing touches (Wallow's Bite, Touch of Agony). The picture is a little misleading because the bar isn't what I typically use any more and because it's a good bit after the kill so I've been able to recharge a bit.
The Vampiric Touches is what will really drain your energy as they are 15e as opposed to the 5e sacrificing touches.
I don't bring Blessed Aura because then I'd have to drop one of the skills and because with 5e touches it's unnecessary.
Try my build as a monk/necro and see if you like it better. I've had quite a few Mo/N post that they like the build in the original thread.

Hey,
thx alot for your Mo/Ele build it works very fine.
I was close to this 1 too but never really got it to work and you found out the little space in modification that was needed to make it work.
Very nice.
Only 1 energy management is bit hard...when some of the Rangers die accidently then u get into trouble...
And you also need both smites for the dmg.
blessed aura is not needed , it can have an opposit effect and kill the Ranger Nagas if it lasts too long...but our goal is only the boss.
I just made a few modifications:
(5Major Runes)
16Smite (13+3)
13Healing (10+3)
9 Favor of Gods (6+3)
9 Protection (6+3)
Axe or Sword (+5e, +20% Enchantments), Grim Cesta (-50hp)
Run out, speak to the priest to get his boon (+25health , +3reg), then die once.
-> +7reg and 8health
Then go on as discribed above.

I honestly don't know whether you could sub Blessed Aura for it. I thought about it when I was trying to get my bow and decided that I'm not exactly trying to make this run as fast as possible since not many people actually want the bow, and what I had works so I didn't mess with it. And the rangers around Stsou dies most of the time (not all of them usually, but most), so energy could become an issue towards the end, when you're spamming those two skills. Also, your health will go up as the rangers die around you; I've never really had any problems with this (for the most part, I'm using the 13 hp just to run through the Kappa without breeze), but if you do you could always cast PS for the DF heal, or switch to a -50 offhand if your hp gets too high.

SB+PS was actually something I've tried before. With dazed, they will be able to interrupt both. Didn't really think about using Plague Touch with touch skills, and it does seem like it would work nicely.

I've found an easier and faster (I think) way of doing this. See the pic. Since the group is entirely rangers, use to terrain to prevent line of sight, then just SS the whole group to death. Use spirit of failure on multiple targets for energy management. To get past the group of kappa after exiting gyala hatchery, pull them to the rez shrine and either kill them or run past (usually the latter).

Are you looking for a non-necro based build or just one that doesn't use Spiteful Spirit?
If you're not biased against using a necro secondary you could use my build.
